Profile

THIS IS PRIMARILY A DESKTOP EXPERIENCE. It kinda works on mobile, but it's not nearly as thought through.https://encyclopedia.marginalia.nu/article/Hacker_NewsThis is a re-implementation of a thing I was experimenting with a few years ago earlier. I find the blue links of Wikipedia very distracting, and my attention starts skipping around when I read text that is busy like that.Gone are inline links, footnotes, most references, many tables, all images.I removed all the distractions on a what-if basis. I've also experimented with designing the encyclopedia around offering other forms of exploration than using inline links.Search is implemented through grievous abuse of a PATRICIA Trie.

Low-Distraction Wikipedia Mirror is positioned in show hn launch, a segment that rewards a clear, focused offering.

It is recorded at the Show HN launch stage.
